TAKE FIVE!

What if you could play anytime, anywhere?
As part of my honours thesis, I explored the idea of "play" in the Singaporean context. In the characteristically busy city of Singapore, play is often an afterthought. Packed schedules mean play is often postponed due to the lack of time or the difficulty of coordination among players.
But what if there was another way to play? TAKE FIVE! is a mobile application that promotes spontaneous play among Singaporean adults as a way to take micro-breaks throughout the day. With daily prompts and challenges, TAKE FIVE! empowers Singaporeans to take ownership of their time.

The brand system
TAKE FIVE! is an attempt to inject spontaneity and playfulness into the life of busy Singaporeans. Through simple, bite-sized challenges and playful prompts, it transforms mundane moments into pockets of play waiting to be discovered.
The brand's design language is thus underpinned by a simple rule: to infuse unstructured, out-of-the-ordinary elements into the normal. This message is carried across via different touchpoints, from the logo to app icons.
Logo

The logo reflects the brand's vision to inject playfulness into the ordinary. A simple yet playful combination mark that combines a sans-serif typeface with customised curve characters I call squiggles.
Icons

The custom icon library combines rounded squiggles with flat-ended straight lines that further drive the narrative of injecting playfulness into the mundane.
